Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Inspect drainage systems
   • Schedule and conduct routine inspections of drainage systems.
   • Monitor faults and take remedial action.
   • Collect and report data on drainage system performance and usage.
2. Monitor flows
   • Monitor flows entering drains.
   • Monitor flows in drains to ensure correct drain operation.
   • Complete remedial action.
3. Control and operate processes
   • Control processes to maintain parameters of operation.
   • Identify, address and report problems and operational conditions of the drainage network.
   • Integrate processes to improve drainage network performance.
   • Compile process records.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

interpreting plans, topographic drawings, charts, service diagrams, service search diagrams, instructions, policies and procedures

monitoring, operating and controlling drainage systems

monitoring fault reports

scheduling and conducting inspections

collecting performance and usage data

inspecting and adjusting flow regulating systems

monitoring discharge flows

controlling and integrating processes

identifying and addressing problems

completing required documentation

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
